ISO 9001:2026 Transition

Quality Management System

The New ISO 9001 Standard
Is Coming in October 2026

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is set to publish the revised ISO 9001:2026 Quality Management System (QMS) Standard in October 2026.This update will replace ISO 9001:2015 and reflects the evolving demands of modern organizations, global supply chains, digital transformation, and sustainability expectations. At Wilkshire Consulting, we are already preparing our clients for a smooth and strategic transition.

What Is Changing in ISO 9001:2026?

While ISO 9001:2026 is not a complete rewrite, it is a significant modernization of the current standard. The core structure (Clauses 4–10) will remain aligned with the Annex SL framework, but refinements are expected in the following areas:

These changes are designed to ensure the standard remains relevant in a rapidly evolving business environment.

Transition Timeline

Following publication in October 2026, certified organizations will have a three-year transition period to move from ISO 9001:2015 to ISO 9001:2026.

That means organizations will likely need to transition by 2029.

Early preparation reduces risk, avoids last-minute pressure, and ensures compliance is integrated strategically rather than reactively.
